Our Story

One’s a St. Pete kid on a mission to preserve the city’s classic restaurants. It started when he bought the 40-year-old Mid Peninsula Seafood, a family favorite enjoyed through generations of St. Pete natives.

The other’s a foodie & natural-born host who was ready to break show business like a bad habit. Flavor creations have been swarming his dreams since he left the restaurant business years ago.

The one thing these long-time friends knew – there was something missing in South St. Pete. When Brian Rose & Nick Brown put their heads together, they realized they could fill this community’s void with something new and fresh that everyone could enjoy.

Everything became clear one day when a restaurant on 6th Street S came available. A historic old house reminiscent of simpler times in Big Bayou. The first settlers in Pinellas landed in Big Bayou in the 1850s, developing it into a fisherman’s village.

Early pioneers Abel Miranda and John Bethell operated a fish camp (what they called a “fish rancho”) on Big Bayou where they sold fish from the bay and hosted clam bakes for the community. Through the years, fish camps have provided a place where people could feed their whole families without blowing their paychecks.

Just like the mullet, partners Brian Rose and Nick Brown are bringing fish camps back in style – serving classic Florida seafood with a modern twist. A place to revive a sense of community, just like St. Pete’s early pioneers had intended.

Whether you’re relaxing with your family in our backyard, catching up with friends over a cocktail, or wanting to pick up an easy dinner after a hard day’s work, Mullet’s is South St. Pete’s stress-free spot for flavorful seafood.
